Hessing Supervers, the major producer of convenience vegetables, is going to build a large factory in Greenport Venlo. Great news, says Gedeputeerde Mackus of the Province of Limburg. Healthy food, horticulture, manufacturing and logistics will come together in the planned innovative processing plant for fruit and vegetables.
Hessing was looking for expansion and ultimately chose to merge the three production companies in Belfeld, Helmond and Schwalmtal into a brand new factory in horticultural area California in Horst. The factory will bring with it 1250 jobs, largely filled by existing staff. In the first quarter of 2023, the factory, equipped with the latest gadgets in the field of sustainability, automation and robotization, must be running at full capacity.
Hessing's investment is a boost for the development of the Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo. The company wants to cooperate with the campus and its participants and invest in innovations for healthy and safe food, big data, robotization, automation and circular production. Hubert Mackus states that the arrival of Hessing is the "third hit within a year," referring to the arrival of the seed enhancer branch of BASF as a shareholder of the Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo and the regional deal in which the State supports the development of North Limburg with 17.5 million euros.
