During the National Horticultural Congress, regional Greenports, regional governments and national industry organizations, including Minister Carola Schouten and Deputy Hubert Mackus, signed the Horticultural Agreement. Minister Schouten: "The Dutch horticultural industry stands for dynamic and progressive entrepreneurship. This is reflected in the Horticultural Agreement, which gives direction to a fully circular horticultural sector." The focus of this agreement is on the careful use of raw materials, reduction of harmful emissions and energy efficient cultivation.
With the Horticultural Agreement, we are working hard to create a circular horticultural sector, so that future generations will also be provided with sufficient high-quality, healthy and sustainably produced food. Under the umbrella of 'Greenports Netherlands', industry, knowledge partners and (regional) governments will work in the coming months on concrete and measurable goals. With the "National Horticultural Agenda 2019-2030: Circular Horticulture in Practice" these goals will be realized. In it, 7 themes have been combined to form the Horticulture Agreement: climate neutral horticulture, modernization of the production area, healthy plants/healthy people, fresh logistics, innovation, labor market & education and internationalization.
Hubert Mackus, Deputy for Agriculture, Nature, Infra, Rail and Monuments and Bob Vostermans, alderman of the municipality of Horst aan de Maas.
