In 2021, the Top Sector T&U Innovation Prize 2021 will be awarded for the 3th time. In this edition the jury has chosen international and groundbreaking innovations that contribute to the realization of a sustainable horticulture: CROSS-BORDER INNOVATION.
Cross-border innovation in horticulture
.The Dutch horticulture sector has a number of challenges for the future. For the sector, the following topics are crucial:
- Taking a route to circular agriculture
- Moving toward climate-neutral horticulture
- Improving the health and safety of our food
- Working toward sustainable water use
In all these topics, key technologies such as AI, robotization, hydrogen technology, ICT etc., play an important role. These technologies are helping us now and in the future to advance on all fronts: scientific, economic and social. For example, by enabling solutions to issues related to climate, health, production, cultivation and mobility.
It is important to note that innovations for the horticultural sector do not only originate from the 'traditional' innovation ecosystem, but that groundbreaking innovations for the horticultural sector can also come from other sectors.
In this edition of the Innovation Prize Top Sector T&U is therefore specifically challenging entrants from other sectors who can 'deploy' their innovations for the Dutch horticultural sector. In short: Cross-border Innovation!
