Poultry company Kipster is entering into a 5-year commitment with foodservice organization Albron, the Efteling, FFC and HMSHost. This means that Ruud Zanders, managing director of Kipster, wants to build a second stable in Beuningen to serve these companies.
The plan is to start construction in March 2019. By the end of 2019, the first eggs and meat products from the roosters will be available to Albron, De Efteling, FFC and HMSHos (Victoria Trading). Teun Verheij director of Albron and board member of Victoria Trading: "Switching to circular and climate friendly agriculture is only possible if everyone in the chain is willing to innovate and also provides an off-take guarantee based on which the construction of a new farm becomes possible."
Circular agriculture
Kipster now supplies more than 7 million eggs and many meat products to the Lidl supermarket chain every year. Zanders says: "The fact that these companies work directly with us and Kipster offers security by purchasing the eggs and meat for a longer period of time is in itself an agricultural innovation. For the future-proof circular agriculture according to the vision of Minister Schouten for 2030, this is a good example."
Besides being animal friendly, the Kipster stable in Venray is also sustainable. The farm runs entirely on solar energy, which is generated by a total of 1,097 solar panels on the roof. The panels provide more energy than the farm needs; the surplus is sold to consumers through the company Kipsterstroom. By adding systems from the industry, fine dust from the farm can also be largely captured. This leads to a particulate matter reduction of more than 90 percent.
