There are plenty of solutions to the current food waste problem. For example, you can make croutons out of leftover bread from the baker. But according to the Future Foods Systems research group, this is just treating the symptoms. There is, in fact, a pattern underpinning the fact that too much bread is left over every day. Therefore, the lectorate has developed a method to make a system analysis that reveals underlying causes and structures and addresses them at all levels. In this way, the food system can actually become more sustainable.

Testing food system approach with intervention strategy

A collaboration of the lectorate Future Food Systems and the foundation Together against Food Waste set up the masterclass 'Zero Food Waste Lab'. The goal of the master class was to test a food system approach to arrive at a strategy through which the underlying problem can be addressed.

Thirty HAS students, teachers and external professionals participated in the masterclass.
