In 2021 the innovative event GROW is also on the agenda. On 10 June 2021, Limburg agrofood students will once again surprise the business community with fantastic, innovative agrofood concept ideas. The new talents will show their best side to the potential employers of tomorrow. Experience it via an online platform and an online event.

New talent partly determines the future of companies in the Limburg agrofood sector. That is precisely why it is so important that students come into contact with and present their views on that future to the business community. Partly because of this, these potential employees are given the opportunity to further develop themselves in practice and the labor market can make optimal use of the fresh perspective of young newcomers.

Online

In connection with corona, this year Grow has chosen to take place entirely online, which means that you can visit the online GROW platform: growlimburg.nl. Here the students present themselves and their ideas by means of a video pitch. Besides making contact with their potential employers of tomorrow, they have the chance to win beautiful prizes, which will be awarded during the GROW-event on Thursday, June 10.

The opportunity to network is an important aspect of GROW. Therefore, during the online event, so-called Q&As are held: question-and-answer sessions between students and entrepreneurs. By unlocking the innovative projects earlier through the online GROW platform, entrepreneurs can prepare themselves even better this year and know in advance which students they would like to get in touch with.

Prices

There are four prizes to be distributed: three jury awards and one audience award. The students' concept ideas and projects are divided into three categories: Food, Sustainability and Technology. One prize winner per category will be chosen by a professional jury. The winner of the public prize is determined by the visitors of the online GROW platform, who can vote for their favorite project after watching the video pitches. The four prizes consist of a cash prize of 300 euros and a day of practical training with an exceptional entrepreneur, who is chosen in consultation with the prize winner.

The province of Limburg, Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo, LIOF, LLTB and the Limburg knowledge institutions, being: HAS University of Applied Sciences, CITAVERDE College, Gilde Opleidingen/Vista College, Fontys Venlo, Maastricht University and the Hoge Hotelschool Maastricht have, after two previous successful GROW editions, decided to reconfirm their cooperation at this event by signing a covenant.
"We didn't have to think about it for a second," said LLTB board member Susanne Görtz. GROW offers our agricultural supporters a fantastic opportunity to get to know each other physically and online, and possibly even to match them with talents who have consciously made the choice to carve out a future for themselves in the agri-food sector."

Diversity and inspiration

"The beauty of GROW is the enormous diversity of projects shown by the participating knowledge institutions. In it they answer - from various disciplines - a wide variety of issues from the agri-food sector. The visibility given to students and the products and services they develop is of great importance, as is the connection that can be made with entrepreneurs from the region. During GROW 2021, we will once again surprise and inspire visitors," say the knowledge institutions involved.
"At the Brightlands Campus, entrepreneurs and students meet each other throughout the year, but during GROW, all the institutions come together at once. This makes the event so attractive for the business community, which is always looking for talent," says Saskia Goetgeluk, director of Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo.

Talent deserves a place in agrofood

"It's nice that an event like GROW puts talents in the field of agrofood in the spotlight," said provincial executive Hubert Mackus. "In Limburg we are working hard on the realization of activity concerning agrofood. Education and business are responding well to this. Together with our partners, by working innovatively, we can make great strides. The Limburg agrofood chain is strong, it would be nice if talented students could find their place within it."
