The egg center of Europe
The "egg center of Europe" is located in the Keyport region with companies such as Hendrix Genetics and The Global Food Group. These entrepreneurs sell eggs or liquid egg that is processed in everyday products. Per day, 80 million eggs are traded and processed within Keyport. That is almost half of all eggs eaten worldwide (500 billion per year) and 35 million people buy a product with liquid egg processed in it every day.

Many companies today are focusing on innovative themes, such as animal health, emission reduction and food safety. There is also a lot of focus on optimization of feed, manure processing and protein production from residual streams, explains Eric Hubers, chairman LTO poultry. Servé Hermans of Hendrix Genetics: "Thanks to new technologies and big data we can predict how many eggs a chicken will lay. The region is a leader in animal health and welfare and chain efficiency and CO2 emissions are important areas of focus." With the arrival of the proposition of EggValley, everything comes together: "Poultry farmers, egg processors and companies concerned with hygiene and the environment," said Martijn van den Heuvel, Alderman Economy Municipality of Weert.
