BioVerbeek has been producing organic vegetables since the 1990s. The next step for BioVerbeek is to complete the energy transition from gas to a biomeiler within a few years. In this way they can grow the millions of tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers energy-neutral. With the indoor biomeiler, biomass is broken down, the warm air provides heating for the greenhouses, and the biomass used comes from nearby companies.
Future is climate positive
.BioVerbeek emphasizes the importance of maintaining fertile soil and thus food security for future generations. This is possible with organic farming. The ambition is therefore to eventually produce without fossil fuels and to become climate positive. This can be done by giving back green energy, increasing biodiversity and contributing to the awareness of organic food. But first: climate neutral with the biomeiler.
