On Thursday, December 6, a group of 14 ambassadors met in Villa Flora on how to strengthen entrepreneurs and consumers who are (want to be) involved around short chains. Because of the increasing initiatives and attention for short chains in and around Limburg this ambassadors group came into existence.
Needs
From the first session with the ambassadors group a number of needs emerged clearly:
- Commonly supported platform; many short chains now work side by side, but not yet with each other. For this, chain directors are needed.
- Improve the relationship between government and entrepreneurship further, as both parties play an important role in new earning models for farmers through short chains.
- Good prices for products from 'honest' farmers
- Inform and educate consumers about what farmers are doing
- Organize (including logistics) direct sales
- Cooperate from personal involvement
At the first ambassador session, there were:
- Ruud van Dijck, Entrepreneur, Pig farmer Boer Ruud
- Steffie Steeghs, Food Innovation student
- Bert Vliex, LOF
- Ron Mulders, Pommeron
- Wiro Nillesen, Chain director
