One year of PVB Limburg: working together on future-proof business parks

The past year has seen a great start to the Verduurzaming Bedrijventerreinen (PVB) Limburg Program. Together with entrepreneurs, municipalities and partners, the first concrete steps have been taken toward more sustainable, greener and future-proof business parks.

Business parks play a key role in making Limburg more sustainable. Challenges such as energy transition, mobility, heat stress and flooding require a joint approach. That is precisely where the strength of PVB Limburg lies: entrepreneurs, municipalities and partners pull together to make a real difference.

During the initial exploration phase, all 31 Limburg municipalities were approached, with the goal of selecting at least one business park in each municipality to get started. By now, the program is active at 32 business parks spread across northern, central and southern Limburg.

Results so far

• In all 32 areas we have started preparations around increasing the level of organization. For example, we support entrepreneurs and municipalities in strengthening park management and business associations. This provides more support and strength to realize sustainability projects.
• 12 sites have now been selected to work on energy hubs and on climate adaptation at 10 sites. Implementation will start in the near future. These include projects such as joint charging facilities, greening and disconnecting rainwater.
• The online knowledge platform provides information for all stakeholders. In addition, inspiring meetings took place, including a well-attended knowledge session on Collective Charging Plazas and the event "Progress to Outlook". The common thread of the day: collaboration often starts with a common "pain point," and it is precisely by addressing that together that movement is created.

Look Ahead

The goal of PVB Limburg goes beyond sustainability. Business parks must also remain resilient and resilient in the future. Therefore, the program continues to focus on cooperation, knowledge sharing and concrete projects that help entrepreneurs move forward. In addition, PVB Limburg can point the way to interesting subsidy opportunities.
