'Working in the agricultural sector gets your hands dirty!' And: 'Without green fingers you don't get in'. Or: 'People are still registered with the UWV, because they don't want to work'. Examples of prejudice that often stand in the way of a match between employer and talent. Sufficient reason according to the UWV, LLTB, Kasgroeit and the Province of Limburg to discuss these and other subjects during the Today's Talent experiment.
During Today's Talent, organized during the Dutch Agri Food Week, ten employers were brought into contact with ten job-seekers who are currently still receiving benefits from the UWV. The experiment is part of the Human Capital Agenda (HCA) agrofood in which education, government and business work together to optimize the connection between education and the labor market.
Congratulations
LTB board member Thijs Rompelberg participates in the HCA agrofood and applauds this experiment and other initiatives that increase the appeal of the agricultural sector as an employer. According to him, it is high time that the often negative prejudices about the agricultural sector make way for more positive images and associations. "Because companies in the agricultural sector are developing at lightning speed and at the same time a pressing staff shortage is also developing. Not a desirable scenario." Rompelberg says that people are desperately needed at various levels of knowledge: from people who do the work with their hands to people who use their knowledge and experience to improve processes at the ICT level. "And that's not easy to achieve, because people outside the sector often don't think of job opportunities in the agricultural sector.
Branding
Hans Jacobs of Gipmans Plants employer and Today's Talent participant also sees this need. "At Gipmans we are doing more and more to get new employees. We are well on our way with employer branding and believe in partnerships with the UWV and the employer service point."
