With the action #SummerOogst, ZLTO and the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality are once again breaking a lance for fruit and vegetables whose quality and taste are fine, but which do not meet the standard requirements of supermarkets due to the drought during growth.

Farmers and growers with surplus 2nd class products can report to ZomerOogst, whereupon the initiators will then try to get these products on store shelves after all.

In 2018, quite a few products were saved:

  • 1500 kg junami apples from ProeVkantoor (a large portion)
  • 1050 kg conference pears from Peter van 't Westeinde
  • 900 kg fennel from Joop Litjens
  • 1000 kg elstar apples from Joël Roks
  • 1200 kg plums from grower Kees Hamelink
  • 1635 kg summer pears from grower Sjako Klooterman
  • 60.000 kg tomatoes from grower Carlos Jansen
  • 6 million cherry tomatoes from Ab van Marrewijk
  • 10,000 kg peppers from Eric Gubbels
  • 50,000 kg apples and pears from Herman Vereecken
  • 6000 pumpkins from Rene Dingemanse

Are you having problems with off-take of your products due to the drought?

Then report it to Summer Harvest >
