The subsidy scheme for the rehabilitation of pig farms will be opened later this autumn. This scheme is currently awaiting state aid approval from the European Commission.
Earlier it was mentioned that the scheme would be open by August 15, but that has been moved. Minister Schouten expects the application to open later this fall. The aim of the scheme is to reduce odour nuisance in livestock-dense areas. Pig farms that cause odor nuisance for nearby residents and would like to stop can qualify for the subsidy.
Subidy process
The European Commission must approve the state aid. After approval, the final regulation will be published in the Government Gazette. Between the publication in the Government Gazette and the opening of the subsidy is always sufficient time, so pig farmers can make an informed decision.
The scheme is expected to be opened in the autumn. Then pig farmers have six weeks to register and apply for the scheme via the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland. After the opening, the further planning will be finalized.
