The mushroom is a sustainable, nutritious and affordable delicacy, which is under growing interest from conscious consumers worldwide. The Dutch mushroom sector is leading in terms of raw materials, knowledge and technology. To maintain this position and continue to develop it into the future, good personnel is a must. The mushroom sector therefore launched the "Are you getting that high from mushrooms?" campaign last year to motivate young people to join the industry.

Mushroom Valley

Through this campaign, the sector wants to convey how many opportunities there are and the important role that the Dutch sector plays worldwide. The campaign was rolled out via Mushroom Valley, the international platform for mushroom cultivation based at Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo. Over twenty-five entrepreneurs active in the mushroom sector have been working together within the platform since 2017. On the website, they showcase the opportunities of the sector and students can view vacancies. In 2019, some fifty students were also invited to discover the sector during the Mushroom Days in Den Bosch.
