FoodLab Limburg is an initiative in which the hospitality and catering courses at Gilde and VISTA College work more closely with the business community, and the education itself increasingly takes place on location at the companies.
Some important milestones will be reached in September, so that students will also really experience what the approach of FoodLab Limburg means.

  1. Workplace learning is applied to the hospitality courses in Weert, Venlo and Heerlen. This means that part of the education is given on location at partner companies, by teachers and professionals from the companies. All partner companies will be trained this year in how to apply workplace learning according to the FoodLab Code.
  2. The degree course Specialized Chef Dutch Cuisine (level 4) will start in Venlo with 12 students.
  3. In Valkenburg a Maatwerkstraject (BBL) will be started so that employees from partner companies can continue their education and professional development. This is an important step for Valkenburg as a municipality with a strong catering industry presence.

A timeline has been drawn up to provide insight into the preliminary process.

Agrofood producers wanted to think about hospitality education

FoodLab Limburg also wants to involve more Limburg agrofood producers in education and is still looking for companies that want to play a role in this. Interested?
