The Venray egg producer Kipster has once again won prizes for its sustainable concept. Kipster claims to be the "most animal, human and environmentally friendly chicken farm in the world" and is receiving more and more support in the form of prizes awarded. After winning an international prize for animal welfare from Compassion in World Farming in July, last week they received the prestigious Mansholt Business Award for Sustainable Entrepreneurship. Provincial Executive member Mackus: "Limburg offers a stimulating climate for agrofood innovations of the highest level.
On Thursday, the Mansholt Business Award for Sustainable Entrepreneurship was presented during the Mansholt Lecture in Brussels. The prize is awarded once every three years to an entrepreneur who is involved in sustainable entrepreneurship in an exceptional manner with great social and possibly international influence. What is special is that for the first time the prize has been split into two. The anti-food waste initiative Kromkommer shares the prize money of €25,000 with sustainable egg producer Kipster.
Open arms for agrofood innovation in Limburg
The rollout of the Kipster concept was made possible in part by the Province of Limburg. Commissioner Mackus is very pleased with the award of the prize to Kipster: "Kipster shows that Limburg offers a stimulating climate for agrofood innovations of the highest level. Worldwide, they are leading the way within the broad framework of sustainability in poultry farming. Kipster fits in perfectly with the course that the Province of Limburg is taking within agrofood. We welcome such innovative concepts with open arms."
