The world is changing and the market will never be the same. Blockchain is going to dramatically change the way product information is funneled through the supply chain. This has major benefits for traceability and transparency. At Kasteel de Keverberg in Kessel, the Blockchain Agrofood meeting for agricultural entrepreneurs and other interested parties took place last Monday afternoon.
The meeting was held at the same time.
What is currently happening in the field of blockchain in the agrofood sector? Where are we headed? During the table interview led by Simone van Trier, the conversation was about these questions and also the opportunities, risks and threats of blockchain. The table guests were Marcel Kuijpers of Kuijpers Kip, Lan Ge, senior scientist at WUR, Alex Janssen of Vepymo talked about the Kipster chain and Ferry Mulder of SIM Supply Chain about blockchain in food retail.

Discussion did not only take place at the table, there were also interesting questions from the room with over eighty attendees. Are links in the chain going to be redundant? Can we use blockchain to give producers feedback from the market? Where do I start as an entrepreneur, what are the implementation costs and what are the biggest challenges you face?
Answers
As an agricultural entrepreneur, do you also want answers to these questions, or do you want to get started with blockchain? The Limburg Land and Horticulture Association, LIOF, Knowhouse and Top Sector Agri & Food are the contact point, can make connections and have (access to) subsidy and financing opportunities.
