Innoveins Seed Solutions is the first occupant of Brightworks, the new campus building of Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo. Niels Peeters and Peter Korsten signed the contract on Wednesday, December 16. Innoveins Seed Solutions works for the crop protection and seed industry and conducts research on seed treatments.
The startup, part of the Botany Group, deals with the coating, priming and characterization of seeds for agriculture and horticulture. The Limburg-based company recently launched a smart camera system that can use high-tech technology to 'look'into seed and predict its quality before the seed goes into the ground. Due to the high purchase costs, only a few of these systems are in use in the Netherlands.
The equipment of Innoveins Seed Solutions is still in Meterik, but the entire company - including the machine - will move to Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo in mid-May. Niels Peeters: "On this campus, where everything revolves around agrofood, we are right in the middle of our network: between the seed companies, growers and agricultural product developers.
.Opportunities
Saskia Goetgeluk, director of Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo, is pleased with the company's arrival. "Innoveins Seed Solutions offers great opportunities with this innovative system for the companies and research institutions already housed on the campus and for the regional seed industry. In this way we are joining forces and strengthening the cooperation on and around the campus."
New construction
Developments are going fast on the campus and the expansion is necessary now that the existing buildings Villa Flora and Innovatoren are almost full due to the rapid growth. In addition to the construction of Brightworks, the construction of Brighthouse, with office and laboratory spaces, started in 2020. Completion of this building is scheduled for mid-2021.
Ruud van Heugten, director of Campus Real Estate Greenport Venlo: "Because of Brightlands' rapid growth, with Brightworks we can offer workspaces in different modules, just like in campus building Villa Flora. Both start-ups and companies that are growing and need more space will find a suitable place here."
