HAS University of Applied Sciences in Venlo will start the Healthy Living course in September 2019. The focus of this new course is on developing innovative concepts in the field of nutrition, lifestyle and living environment to improve the health of people. The focus is on preventing diseases rather than curing them. The programme lasts 4 years and is based at HAS University of Applied Sciences in Venlo.

The reason for offering the Healthy Living course, a variant of the Bachelor's degree in Food Innovation, is the fact that society is paying more and more attention to the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases. It is high on the political agenda. The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport is currently writing a National Prevention Agreement that focuses on improving the quality of life of citizens in which prevention is central.

Prevention

Because there are still many challenges in the area of prevention, there is an increasing demand for professionals who can get to work with this. Think of consultants, product developers, designers and lifestyle coaches. Healthy Living responds to this demand. Prevention is a broad theme and the Healthy Living course therefore focuses specifically on areas in which HAS University of Applied Sciences has a great deal of expertise as a result of its other courses: food and living environment. In the field of lifestyle close cooperation is being sought with other educational institutions.

Healthiest region

HAS University of Applied Sciences has deliberately chosen Venlo as its location. The North Limburg region has the ambition to become the healthiest region in Europe in 2025 in terms of living, working and recreation. Government, entrepreneurs and education have joined forces to achieve this ambition and in the coming years this will result in various projects and campaigns. HAS University is happy to join this effort. Working together with partner companies in the region is therefore very important to HAS University.

Open Day

On 24 November an open day will again take place at HAS University of Applied Sciences in Venlo. The new Healthy Living study programme will be presented for the first time on this day.
