The mood index for agricultural and horticultural businesses stands at 18.5 points in the second quarter of 2019. These points reflect the current mood of the farm. Greenhouse growers and poultry farmers are positive about the future and have the highest mood index. Arable farmers, outdoor gardeners, dairy farmers and pig farmers are less positive and have a declining index.
Each quarter a new outlook
.For medium term, greenhouse growers and arable farmers are more positive than a quarter ago. Farmers and gardeners are more divided this quarter about the expected future situation than the previous quarter. The index now stands at 2 points, approaching zero. This means that as many entrepreneurs are positive as negative about their business operations for the next 2-3 years.
The Agro Confidence Index is compiled from the mood index. This reflects the current situation at agricultural and horticultural companies and the index that quantifies the economic situation at the company for the next 2-3 years.
