Brightlands Agrifood Ventures has increased its first fund for Limburg startups in the agriculture and food sector by 3 million euros to over 20 million euros. The LLTB, Van Herk Ventures and a private investor have each put in 1 million euros.
Through the fund, the managers provide capital to promising startups and fast-growing companies at the Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo that develop new technologies for the agricultural and food sectors. The first euros will go to ten technological startups within the agrifood sector. The management of the new innovation fund is in the hands of Chemelot Ventures Management.
Kim de Boer, fund manager of Brightlands Agrifood Ventures: "Brightlands Agrifood Fund is there to provide capital to startups with ambitious growth plans, a strong team, a groundbreaking product or concept and a scalable business model within the agrifood domain. We work from the philosophy that the Brightlands ecosystem and we as investors should be able to add value to the chances of success and time to market. We are happy to engage in the conversation to see how we can arrive at a well-funded set-up."
