Are you a food professional, entrepreneur, policy maker, student or otherwise active in the Brabant agrifood? Would you like to surround yourself with a network of 20 change-makers and discover together how you can commit to a healthy and fair food system? Then sign up now for the third FoodUp! Academy of Brabant. There are also a few places available for Limburgers!

The FoodUp! Academy gives an overview of the food system by actually diving into the food chain. In addition, the program provides tools to translate new knowledge into daily practice. The program offers space for personal development and theory, but especially for learning from practice and from each other.

Would you like to discover what and how you can contribute to the change of the food system? Are you available on September 26 & 27, October 11, November 8 and November 29? Then apply before June 24, 9:00 am by emailing academie@foodupbrabant.nl with your cover letter and resume (both maximum 1 A-4). Please answer the following questions in your motivation letter (±1 paragraph per question):

• Why do you want to participate?
• What is currently your biggest food question that you would like to get started with?
• How does your ideal food future look like?

After the written application, intake interviews will be held in the last week of June and the first week of July from 10:00 to 18:00 at the office of FoodUp! Brabant in 's-Hertogenbosch. With more than 20 applications, a group will be composed based on the written application and the interviews.

Participant fee: €350,- (incl. VAT and incl. lunch). If you do not agree with the financial contribution, please contact the organization.

What is the FoodUp! Academy?

The FoodUp! Academy gives you an overview of the food system by taking you on a journey through the entire chain. The 5-day program offers space for both theory and practice, but also learning from each other is an important part. We give you knowledge and inspiration that you can use in your daily practice. You will also work with other participants on your own ideas through a self-formulated assignment and you will have access to a wide network of food changers from Brabant.

What to expect?

- You will increase your knowledge about the current food system and get in touch with change agents and entrepreneurs who are already working on the future food landscape.
- You will get your feet in the mud: developing your vision is done by learning, experiencing, doing and sharing, by going out on the farm, in conversation with experts and with each other. - Get to know people from all links in the chain from craftsmen to experts, top speakers, innovators and entrepreneurs.
- You become part of an interdisciplinary Brabant transition network that is also valuable long after you have completed this course and regularly organises meetings.
- You work in parallel on your idea/plan to make a positive contribution in your own way to the current food system.
- The Brabant agrifood network is opened up, have coffee/tea with an important key figure for your future (we make the match for you).

Day 1: Introduction & the food transition // 26 & 27 September

• Where are you in the food chain?
• In search of your personal mission
• How do you feel?
• What is the 'food transition'?
• Form a new, personal perspective on change.

Day 3: The food landscape // October 11

• On an excursion into the food chain: from farmer to citizen
• Where are the bottlenecks?
• How does 'the system' change?

Day 4: Radical Renewal // November 8

• Meet radical innovators who are putting their ideas into action.
• What innovations are working and why?

Day 5: Make the transition yourself // November 29

• Turn your words into deeds
• Work during workshops to come up with a concrete and executable plan.

When participating, you are expected to be present at all program days.

For whom?

The FoodUp! Academy is meant for people from the entire food chain, from farmer to consumer, who have a special interest in food or work in this field. Do you doubt whether this program fits you? Mail to academie@foodupbrabant.nl and we will plan a call appointment.

Why?

The Province of Brabant is home to the best entrepreneurs, a wealth of knowledge, a rich landscape and its inhabitants also have an incredible love of good food. At the same time we have to face the fact that the Province as a whole has to produce more sustainable, healthier and fairer food. That is why we are organizing this academy for leaders in the agrifood sector, to help you on your way, to make contacts and to work together to give shape to the future that you yourself envision.

Dates: 26 & 27 September (including dinner and overnight stay), 11 October, 8 November, 29 November Times: to be determined, but approximately from 9:30 - 18:00 and on 26 September with dinner and overnight stay. Locations: various locations throughout Brabant
Deadline registration: 24 June 2019 at 9:00 am

Participant fee: €350,- incl VAT. This includes: lunch on all program days, dinner and overnight stay on the first two days.
