The first pilot measurements of air quality for the "Farmers and Neighbors" project will start soon. This is the first concrete step of the project, in which farmers and citizens will measure the air quality of their surroundings together. They will be assisted by Venray Municipality, Limburg Province and the RIVM. The measurements will take place in the outlying area of Leunen.

The first trial measurements will be done with fine dust sensors. Besides particulate matter, ammonia and nitrogen dioxide are also measured. Gaining insight into the air quality and the degree of air pollution is important for residents and farmers. With all the information collected, farmers can adjust their daily business management. The influence of joint measurement on relations between farmers, local residents and the government is also being investigated.

During the first meeting on June 25, concrete agreements were made between participating farmers and local residents. The actual measurements will take place in Venray in October.
