More than 1500 visitors, including many food professionals and renowned food companies, visited the HAS Food Experience on 4 February. They were all curious about the ideas and projects of more than 230 students in the theme Today's Food Challenges. Especially those of the winners of the FoodManShip Awards.
Innovation
The students devised solutions to promote sustainability and health using innovative technologies. They also thought about the future of food and food systems and developed smart solutions for existing and future consumer needs. They did this mostly in collaboration with companies in the sector or made this their own business.
HAS Venlo
Students of the HAS University of Applied Sciences Venlo also had the opportunity to present their innovations. A selection of the many concepts that were shown to the public:
- Skinned: Jord came up with chips made of potato peelings.
- Hollands Hoen: with this concept Caroline makes sustainable quality meat from Dutch breed chickens available to selected restaurants and butcher shops.
- The City Bagel: honest and delicious, healthy bagels from Lidewij. There is a sweet and a savory variety.
- Quiche Jij Maar: the quiche bottom based on vegetables. Product and packaging developed by Iris.
- TOOBS: signing up with others for a batch of special beer, deciding on the taste together, and then ordering a 5-liter home tap barrel with personalized printing. That's TOOBS from Toby.
- B-Kind: beekeeper Sergio markets honey-based products. The first batch of NECTAR honey beer was tasted at the HAS Food Experience 2020!
- Chocolate Garden: with this, Luc creates a social environment where the elderly can garden and meet. With the flowers and plants that grow there, chocolates are made. The proceeds flow back into the foundation. Thus the circle is complete.
