Last Thursday the annual entrepreneurial awards were presented in Venray. This year both the professional jury and the public chose the same winner: the sustainable chicken farm Lamberdina's Hoeve of Eric Thielen.
Two prizes
The Venrayse Ondernemersprijzen are awarded every year during the New Year event of the Venrays Ondernemers Platform in the Schouwburg. Over ten entrepreneurs associations from the region Venray and Wanssum work together to make this possible. During this evening the guests will choose the winner of the Rabobank Public Prize. In addition, there is the Loek Nelissen Award, in which a professional jury comes to a winner.
Six nominees
The nominees of 2020 were next to the Lamberdina's Hoeve the companies Pit for your administration, Expert Venray, Kusters 2.0, Gastrobar TOF and De Mulder Keukens op Maat. They were judged on the theme 'groundbreaking'. During the event, the audience got to know all the entrepreneurs through mood videos, a stage performance and interview. The professional jury made earlier company visits to come to a judgement.
Transgressive and groundbreaking
In both cases, Lamberdina's Hoeve emerged as the winner. This organic chicken farm from Oirlo is the realization of Eric Thielen's dream. Here he focuses on sustainable care for animals, people, nature and the environment. The chickens live in the ultimate living environment with several stalls and a free-range enclosure. The meadows are sown with grasses and clovers and old highbush trees. They will continue to take root in the soil of Lamberdina's Hoeve and will provide protection for the chickens.
The Lamberdina's Hoeve was praised for its use of science and technology to put the environment and animal welfare on an equal footing with business interests. The jury called the farm leading and groundbreaking within the sector. From the jury report: "Eric is a visionary who does not think in problems but in challenges and solutions. He is a connector and an entrepreneur who pushes boundaries."
