Brightlands Campus the ideal stage for the start of Dutch AgriFood Week

Since Floriade in 2012, 45 organizations have settled in the striking buildings along the A73, the number of employees is approaching 600 and more than 400 students and teachers are already at work here every day.

The Venlo campus, the fourth Brightlands Campus in Limburg after Chemelot, Health and Smart Services, has grown at record speed to become an innovation platform for agri-food. With brand new state-of-the-art laboratories and incubators, experimental fields and test greenhouses. Like the Bio Treat Center, intended for processing biomass and residual flows into semi-finished products and products for the biobased economy.

The Dutch Agri Food Week is therefore an ideal stage to showcase the developments on this campus, right in the middle of the second horticultural region of the Netherlands where a quarter of all outdoor vegetables are grown. A region with a strong focus on export and logistics.

Innovative SMEs can come to the campus with all their questions and ideas about technological innovations, circular agriculture and healthy food. Commissioner Hubert Mackus of the Province of Limburg is proud of the campus: "It is a platform where entrepreneurs form alliances and clusters, together with scientists and knowledge institutions. We can be very proud of that!"
An example of the intensive cooperation between education and business is the recently launched chair 'Youth and Healthy Nutrition'.
