'We are still too stuck in consumerism,' argues professor Jan Jonker on sustainable transition

Is emeritus professor Jan Jonker already having withdrawal symptoms, now that his latest book is off to the printers? 'Ask me that again after Christmas,' he says soberly. 'Until then, I have seven more presentations. Then it's hard to kick off.'

His latest book, Transition of Meaning, is "a synthesis of thoughts and concepts collected over more than three decades. These are richly illustrated. A coffee table book, Jonker himself calls it. To top it all off, he makes a proposal for a new social contract.

Change Inc. spoke to Jonker about his career, his proposals and the future.
