Van Abeelen: cooling on solar energy

Zomerparkfest and its partners are offering three entrepreneurs this year the opportunity to test their sustainable or social innovation during Zomerparkfeest TestLab. Today we introduce you to: Van Abeelen.

Van Abeelen develops innovative cooling and air conditioning systems and recently launched a special prototype: the Solarfridge. This mobile cooling container operates completely off-grid on solar power and can stay cool for 48 hours without sunlight - ideal for festivals or areas without a reliable power grid.

During Summer Park Festival, they want to discover how the Solarfridge performs under realistic conditions: with load, intensive use and festival crowds. For visitors, it stays cool as always - but what keeps their drinks cold is anything but standard.

The Solarfridge was developed to cool food and medicine in regions where energy is scarce, such as disaster or war zones. Van Abeelen combines technical expertise with idealism, working toward a more sustainable and fairer world.

The Solarfridge was started from idealism as well as technical expertise - with the aim of reducing food and medicine waste in vulnerable areas.

Dutch Food Inspiration Lab: Coffee grounds with a second life

Zomerparkfest and its partners are offering three entrepreneurs this year the opportunity to test their sustainable or social innovation during Zomerparkfeest TestLab. Today we introduce you to: Dutch Food Inspiration Lab.

.

They are giving coffee grounds a second life. By upgrading coffee grounds into edible ingredients, they are working on a circular food chain and preventing tons of usable waste from disappearing every year. In the Netherlands some 200 million kilos of coffee grounds end up in the waste bin each year - while they are still full of potential.

.

During Summer Park Festival, they'll introduce the public to their 𝘴𝘦𝘀𝘰𝘯π˜₯ 𝘭π˜ͺ𝘧𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘰π˜₯ π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨𝘳𝘦π˜₯π˜ͺ𝘦𝘯𝘡𝘴 - and you get to taste it, too. Their test focuses on awareness as well as inspiration: what other products can we make from waste streams? And how do we get this on the map from Venlo to far beyond?

Dutch Food Inspiration Lab is currently working on a pilot in the Venlo region. Zomerparkfeest is the ideal starting point.

NoA Biosciences: Wood to Food

Zomerparkfest and its partners are again this year offering three entrepreneurs the chance to test their sustainable or social innovation live at Zomerparkfeest TestLab. Today we introduce: NoA Biosciences.

.

NOA develops tasty mushroom-based alternatives to meat and fish. Those mushrooms are grown on woody residue streams, in an innovative process they call "π—ͺ𝗼𝗼𝗱 π˜π—Ό 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗼𝗱." By involving local farmers and food services in production and distribution, they are building a fair and regional food system.

During Summer Park Festival, they are testing their first prototypes in collaboration with food services: what does the public think of the taste, texture and application? Their ambition: to contribute to an affordable, scalable protein transition - with less impact and more taste.

NoA Biosciences comes from Venlo and presents itself to a wide audience for the first time - discover them at Zomerparkfeest from August 8 to 10!
