On Wednesday, October 16, we were guests of Akab in Hoensbroek with members of shiftLimburg. Akab is a real family business, with father Michel Potma and his sons Rowen and Tren. In the coming years the sons will take over the company.
Automation & robotization
Akab specializes in manufacturing unprocessed door leafs in various sizes and designs. Due to the high level of robotization and automation, Akab is able to produce these in a proper and efficient manner, provided with the highest quality. The production is completely in-house. A product passport of all doors is also available.
Refurbished robots
.It is nice to see that robotization has clearly made its appearance within the production process. Akab has opted for refurbished robots, this contributes to the sustainability goals the company is working on. All robots have also been given a name, so it is immediately clear internally what production part it is about.
Akab has also chosen refurbished robots.
Servitization
After Rowen's introduction, Karel Smeets of Mediatastic talked about Servitization: expanding the revenue model with a services component at your customer's site. He explained how you can apply Servitization within your own company. For example by offering maintenance or assembly service, training and knowledge transfer or (predictive) data and automation. Akab is also working with Servitization.
Tour of the production hall
.Afterwards we were given an inspiring tour of the production hall. Rowen and Tren also showed what steps in terms of robotization they still want to add, so that they can work even more efficiently and faster.
