The province of Limburg will invest 3.6 million euros to help small and micro SMEs and business parks become more sustainable. With this amount, 389 small and micro SMEs can get help in making sustainable choices. Also, 59 business parks in Limburg can receive support to better organize themselves to become more sustainable. Both relief programs can come about thanks to a State contribution of 3.6 million euros.

Sustainability assistance for businesses and business parks

.

Many business property owners need to make their buildings more sustainable. This also applies to small and micro SMEs and business parks. For these owners, making their building or business more sustainable is often a challenge because they often lack knowledge and capacity. In 2024, small and micro SME entrepreneurs can turn to the SME de-skilling program for help in making their premises more sustainable and the process towards it. This involves guidance in making choices up to the moment of tendering or purchasing the measures that will lead to making the business more sustainable. In addition, business park owners or tenants can turn to the business park de-care program to increase the level of organization, or cooperation between owners and tenants for sustainable management. This is an important prerequisite for making business parks more sustainable.

Towards a more sustainable living environment

.

The de-servicing programs for SMEs and business parks, respectively, contribute to making the built environment more sustainable faster and to the goals of the Climate Agreement. This objective focuses on reducing at least 55% CO2 emissions in 2030 compared to 1990. Commissioner for Energy & Climate, Marc van Caldenberg, emphasizes the importance of these initiatives: "Increasing sustainability is crucial for the future of companies (sites) in our province. It is essential that the energy bill is distributed fairly. Climate policy must be fair and affordable for everyone. That is why we offer support that businesses need with these schemes. By working together and using these programs, we can take important steps toward a more sustainable environment."

The relief programs will launch at a later time this year. Keep an eye on the Provincial Limburg website for more information and updates on the launch date and further details.
