Nominate your food hero for the 2024 Value Ring

During the Week of Our Food, from Oct. 5 through Oct. 12, the Value Ring will be awarded. The Value Ring is an award for someone who makes a special effort to strengthen the connection between farmer/horticulturist and citizen. Anyone can nominate someone for this award. Who do you think deserves this beautiful award? Together we can make the value of our food in our province more visible!

Linking between farmer/horticulturist and citizen

It is a first for the Province of Limburg to award this Value Ring this year. From all the nominees, three winners will be chosen in three different categories: Education, Innovation, and Extensive Agriculture (including organic, nature-inclusive, and/or animal-friendly). They will receive an award for their efforts toward strengthening the farmer-citizen connection and food awareness in the province. They can be farmers/horticulturists/growers, but also directors of schools or companies, board members or employees of organizations.

Who is eligible for nomination?

We have listed a number of criteria that a nominee must meet. The nominee does not have to meet all of these criteria, but the more that fit, the better chance they have!

If the person you have in mind contributes to one or more of these topics, that person is eligible for a nomination:

• demonstrates special commitment to strengthening the bond between farmer/horticulturist/grower and citizen;
• has the support of people in the area;
• is an example of entrepreneurship;
• presents the values of Our Food Week: health, sustainability and good living;
• produces/delivers commitment in Limburg;
• brings attention to the origin of Limburg products/ingredients;
• actively contributes to information and food education for young and old;

The selection committee wishes to nominate people from the different regions of Limburg and from different agricultural sectors. It will take this into account when evaluating the nominations.

Where can I submit my nomination?

Through September 29, it is possible to nominate someone. After that, registration closes and the selection committee will make a choice from the list of nominations. The award ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, during the Week of Our Food.
