There is a subsidy for entrepreneurs who want to reuse, repair or recycle products and materials. From January 30 they can apply for this subsidy at Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO). This can be done alone, but also with other entrepreneurs. It concerns circular techniques or processes that are new to them. The subsidy helps companies use and expand the processes.

Subsidy for diapers, electronics and more

Entrepreneurs can apply for the Circular Implementing and Scaling Up (CIO) grant for:

  • electronic and electrical appliances
  • textiles
  • diapers and incontinence materials
  • reusable cups and meal containers
  • furniture

These are product groups from the Consumer Goods Transition Agenda.

Enterprises that are already doing this can expand these activities to close their product or material chain. This means that there are no more residual materials during all the steps to make a product, to use and after use. Thus, there are fewer CO2 emissions.

Cooperating in the circular economy

.

The grant is for entrepreneurs who want to prepare their businesses to:

  • reuse products;
  • repair and reuse product parts - including refurbishing and remanufacturing;
  • process and reuse materials through high-quality recycling;
  • develop support services and logistics that help reuse, repair or recycle - and thus reduce CO2 emissions;

RVO already has grant schemes to research and develop circular projects (R&D), for chain cooperation and for pilot or demonstration projects. With this subsidy, the government agency is also helping entrepreneurs move forward with application and scale-up.

Background

.

By 2050, the Netherlands wants to be a circular economy. In this circular economy we deal with products and materials in a fair and more environmentally conscious way. This is how we prepare for the future.

This is only possible if organizations in product and material chains work together. For example, by designing differently, longer and reusing, repairing, refurbishing, upcycling or high-quality recycling.
