Today, the Samenwerkende Industrieterreinen Maastricht (SIM) and the City of Maastricht are launching the SIM Circular Platform: a digital platform that supports entrepreneurs in circular entrepreneurship. It has been specially developed to help companies in Limburg take concrete steps toward less waste, more reuse and more efficient collaboration.
Practical tool towards 2050
By 2050, all business parks in the Netherlands must be fully circular. This platform provides entrepreneurs with an accessible, practical tool to get started now. Among other things, the platform offers:
- A waste stream market - for offering and finding surplus materials .
- A sharing platform - to share assets such as machinery, storage space or vehicles with others
The platform is easy to use, free to access and encourages collaboration between entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations.
Edward Goessens, president of the SIM:
"Many entrepreneurs want to work in a circular(er) way, but wonder where to start. This platform shows what is already possible and brings parties together. Together we can make the circular economy both tangible and feasible."
Hubert Mackus, Alderman for Economy of the Municipality of Maastricht: "This platform perfectly matches our ambitions in the field of circular economy and innovation in entrepreneurship. It encourages not only reuse, but also mutual cooperation and regional economic strength."
