Are you working with other SMEs to develop or innovate products, production processes or services and would you like to contribute to the development of the digital key technology Artificial Intelligence (AI)? Then you can apply for an R&D Collaboration Project on the theme of AI. This is how the government stimulates innovation.

Budget and application period

.
  • Start date: Tuesday 8 April 2025 09:00
  • Final date: Tuesday, May 27, 2025 17:00
  • Total budget: €3,550,000

Digital transformation

There is a digital transformation going on in society and economy, among other things due to AI. SMEs often do not have sufficient up-to-date knowledge and expertise in the field of AI to take advantage of its opportunities. In addition, AI itself is still developing strongly. The tender R&D Cooperation Projects on the theme of AI supports this development and contributes to a strong knowledge and innovation base in the field of AI for SMEs. This tender is part of the AiNed program of the National Growth Fund.

Themed AI

.

AI refers to systems that exhibit intelligent behavior by analyzing their environment and - with a degree of autonomy - taking action to achieve specific goals (European Commission definition).

Only national budget

With the MIT scheme, there are national budgets and/or budgets per region. This differs for each MIT instrument. For R&D Cooperation Projects AI only national budget is available.

Conditions

.

You can apply for the AI theme grant for a small or a large collaboration project. The general conditions are the same as the generic conditions MIT: R&D Cooperation Projects.

.

To be eligible, the project must fit within the Artificial Intelligence sub-theme of Digital Key Technology. This includes the following:

  • The project contributes to the development and deployment of generative AI and/or machine learning.
  • The project includes an approach that is mindful of trusted and human-centered AI.
  • The project provides a demonstrably new solution for one or more of the work areas of the AI Coalition for the Netherlands (AIC4NL). AIC4NL is the national public-private platform dedicated to accelerating the responsible development and application of AI. Lees meer over AIC4NL en de werkgebieden.

In the Government Gazette Publication of the MIT you can read more about the (specific) conditions.

Use counter guide

.

For the MIT scheme there are regional counters and a national RFO counter. Where to submit your application varies for each MIT instrument. For R&D Cooperation Projects AI you can only submit an application at the national RVO office. You can always use our loketwijzer to determine the appropriate counter.
