Have a construction company and are considering the purchase of a construction equipment or construction vehicle? Choose emission-free and take advantage of the Clean and Emission-free Construction Equipment Subsidy Scheme (SSEB)! You can apply for the grant starting March 5. Previous years the interest was so great that the subsidy pot was empty after just one day. Prepare to submit your application immediately. Our logistics brokers will gladly help you with it.
There are different types of grants within SSEB. For example, for converting existing construction equipment and vehicles to zero-emission variants. Similarly, for a feasibility study on innovations of zero-emission construction equipment. In this article we look at SSEB Purchase, for the purchase or financial lease of a zero-emission construction machine or construction vehicle.
What companies does the SSEB apply to?
The subsidy applies to construction companies located in the Netherlands with SBI code 39, 390, 41, 411, 412, 42, 421, 422, 429, 43, 431, 432, 433, 439, 4941, 50201, 7712, 7732, 7739 or 77399. Companies that purchase new zero-emission construction equipment and rent or lease it to other companies can also apply for subsidies.
What machines and vehicles is the SSEB Purchase for?
The subsidy applies to new, emission-free construction machinery and construction vehicles. Check the list of the RVO for the complete overview. Construction vehicles include, for example, a construction vehicle N2 (> 4,250 kg) or N3 with body code 9 (vehicle with hooklift ), 10 (dump truck), 15 (concrete mixer), 16 (concrete pump vehicle), 26 (crane truck), 27 (aerial platform) and 28 (drill truck) or special purpose SF designation.
.What grant amounts are involved?
The maximum subsidy rate is 25% of the additional cost compared to a combustion engine construction machine. For small and medium-sized enterprises and micro-enterprises the maximum is 30%. For all companies the maximum subsidy amount per construction machine is 300,000 euros. You can receive a subsidy for both the chassis and the body of the construction vehicle. As a company you can receive a maximum of 1 million euros SSEB per calendar year. The subsidy amount is reduced by the MIA discount (11.25%)
.Conditions SSEB
.- Your company is registered with the Chamber of Commerce with an SBI code.
- You have a non-final purchase or lease agreement. In this you can have a clause included, for example: 'order is final after grant SSEB'. Should your company not receive a subsidy, this clause allows you to cancel the agreement.
- You need e-recognition of at least level 3 in order to apply for the grant. E-recognition is a secure login tool used by over 500 different service providers, such as municipalities, tax authorities and insurers. More info about e-recognition and the various providers.
- Are you applying for a 30% subsidy, belonging to the SME and micro-enterprise business category? Then do the SME test before applying for the subsidy.
- You use the construction machine at least 70% of the time for outdoor construction work.
- You can add up to three battery packs to the investment cost (reference method) or up to three times the battery capacity (formula method) in the application. If there are two battery packs inside, you can add 1 more.
- The vehicle must remain within the same company for 4 years.
Environmental investment deduction after application
If you have applied for the SSEB Purchase, you are almost always eligible for the Environmental Investment Allowance (MIA). The RVO therefore deducts the fixed percentage MIA of 11.25%, calculated on the investment costs, from the SSEB subsidy amount. You must then apply for the MIA yourself. Do this within three months after the purchase or financial lease agreement is finalized. Indicate on the application form for MIA that you receive SSEB. Also enter the subsidy amount.

Janssen Group uses electric excavator
The Limburg-based Janssen Group is deploying an electric excavator for projects in civil engineering. Director Christian Janssen: "The excavator performs just as well as a conventional diesel-powered machine. The big advantage is that it produces much less noise. We only have to change the battery once in a working day, which almost always happens during the operator's break time."
