Want to build charging infrastructure for electric vehicles? If so, you may be eligible for the SPRILA Purchase grant. SPRILA is for the purchase of charging infrastructure such as charging stations and for the purchase of a stationary battery. You can apply for this subsidy starting March 25, 2025.

SPRILA stands for Subsidy Scheme for Private Charging Infrastructure at Businesses. Last year, you could also apply for the SPRILA grant. For two components, more subsidy was quickly applied for than there was budget available. Namely, the construction of charging infrastructure for DC charging stations and investments in a stationary battery. For the construction of charging infrastructure for AC charging stations, there was subsidy budget left over. Don't want to miss out on the subsidy? Prepare and submit your application by March 25, 2025. It is possible to have the application ready in draft from March 12.

Subsidy amounts depending on company size

.

The total subsidy budget is €60,952,000. Of this, €9,000,000 is reserved for ov-concessionaires or coach companies, the rest is available for all other companies. The amount of subsidy you can get depends on the size of your company (SME or large company) and the type of charging station:

Change from 2024

.

In 2024, you could also apply for the SPRILA grant. Here are some of the key changes from then:

  • You can now also get subsidy for a duo pole at AC charging stations and for charging stations with an integrated battery and C-value greater than 0.25.
  • As an SME, you may provide the results of the SME test or an SME statement.
  • You get less subsidy per charging station.
  • The requirement of at least 4 charging stations at AC charging stations from 11 kW has changed. The condition is now that the subsidy amount to be applied for is at least € 2,500 per location. This means that as a large company you have a minimum of € 12,500 in costs covered by the subsidy, and as an SME a minimum of € 6,250.
  • You get less subsidy per kWh for a battery.
  • The conditions for subsidy on a battery have changed.
  • The maximum amount of state aid for large companies is 20% and for SMEs is 40%.
  • Conditions have been included for using the charging stations or battery for a period of 2 years.

Conditions SPRILA

.

The conditions for applying for SPRILA are:

  • You are an entrepreneur or concessionaire of public transport.
  • You have a Chamber of Commerce registration.
  • Your company is based in the Netherlands.
  • You place the charging infrastructure in the Netherlands on your own property or on property you rent.
  • Your charging stations will not be included in the register of public charging infrastructure for at least 24 months after the subsidy is determined.
  • You submit a maximum of one application per site per calendar year.
  • Your grant per location is a minimum of €2,500. This means that as a large company you have at least € 12,500 in costs covered by the subsidy, and as an SME at least € 6,250.
  • At your location, the charging infrastructure will have at least:
    • one or more DC charging stations with a capacity of 20 kW or more with at least one charging point; or
    • one or more AC charging stations with a capacity of at least 11 kW possibly in combination with the basic charging infrastructure.

Subsidy amount determines when to apply

Once again this year, the amount of the subsidy amount determines the time when you must apply for the subsidy. Is the subsidy amount to be applied for lower than €25,000? Then first have the charging infrastructure built and then apply for the subsidy. Is the subsidy amount higher than € 25,000? Then you apply for the subsidy with an unsigned quotation. You do this before you commission and have the work done.
