In addition to the inevitable sauerkraut and vlaai, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and their daughters also got to see a culinary innovation from Limburg on Queen's Day: cultured meat.
During the visit of the royal family to Maastricht, special attention will be paid to delicacies from the province of Limburg. At the request of the King, the Dutch developer of cultured meat Mosa Meat has also been invited.
These two companies have been invited to the event.
The cells needed for the production of Mosa Meat's cultured meat come from cows kept on a farm in the city. The Dutch Lower House recently passed a motion by D66 and VVD to make tasting sessions with cultured meat possible. During the royal visit to Maastricht there was no question of this.
