LTO Companies invests further in smart farming with BioScope

LTO Companies is investing further in smart farming with BioScope and the FieldScout app is getting new features. So that you get insight and better control over a crop.

LTO Companies is taking a majority stake in smart farming technology and data company BioScope. LTO Companies believes that in the near future, most agricultural companies will start using user-friendly smart farming applications.

The investment will be used for the further development of BioScope FieldScout applications. Besides that there will be an active effort to expand the product range.

Current crop information

More than 2,000 arable and dairy farmers now use FieldScout, both via desktop and via smartphone or tablet app. The users can use it to request, monitor and compare up-to-date crop information on the basis of satellite and/or drone images of any desired parcel in the Netherlands.

The smartphone app has been developed to use the data directly in the field. Where is the crop doing better, where is it lagging behind and what could be the cause of this? This allows you to take early action at specific locations. It gives you insight and better control over the crop. This means less waste and a higher yield.

Two years ago AeroVision and LTO Bedrijven invested in the joint venture BioScope, to stimulate the growth of precision agriculture with geo-information for crop monitoring. LTO Companies is now investing in the company again and has owned 60% of the shares since this year.

 

Rigation planner coming

BioScope continues to develop. An integration with an irrigation planner is planned. This will allow you to monitor the situation per field and will provide tailor made irrigation advice. BioScope is also working on a dashboard for Carbon Farming, which will give you insight in the performance in the field of climate and environment.
