On November 10, we celebrated a milestone: 50 years of LIOF. Half a century of resilience, innovation and cooperation. With more than 350 guests, entrepreneurs, partners, government, Rijk, Province, Brightlands campuses and knowledge institutions, we looked at where Limburg came from, where we are now and where we are growing.

From black gold to black holes: the story of Limburg
Spoken word artist Brohlin opened the program with an impressive narrative about Limburg. Not a retrospect full of nostalgia, but a raw, honest and hopeful sketch: We make together. We make tomorrow. His performance set the tone: Limburg has a past that demands honor and a future that deserves ambition.
You can look back at Brohlin's story here.
Limburg today: an innovative (growth) region
Launched by chairman of the day Ann-Lynn Hamelink, Robbert Koldenhof, Stephan Satijn (deputy of the Province of Limburg) and Sandor Gaastra (secretary general of the Ministry of Economic Affairs) discussed:
- Limburg as an innovative region that is no longer "in transition," but ready with a clear proposition
- ecosystems that count nationally and internationally
- the unique geographical and economic position of Limburg
- the role of LIOF as booster, connector and investor
- projects such as the Einstein Telescope that show how Limburg is developing from mining region to scientific center with global allure
The conversation was clear in tone: this is the Limburg that wants to move forward.
