LLTB again creates own Vastelaovend emblem: 'Our farmers lay your soil'

After a successful campaign last year, the Limburg Agricultural and Horticultural Union (LLTB) has come up with another campaign this year around the Vastelaovend. The advocacy group has designed a new embroidered emblem with a clear message: 'Our farmers lay your soil'.

'Because a lot of products eaten during the Vastelaovend come from our farmers,' says Thijs Rompelberg, chairman of the LLTB. 'Bacon with egg, nonnevotten, cheese cubes, sausages and of course a cold beer. Without farmers, revelers would not have a good base to get through the Vastelaovend even better.'

With this action, the LLTB is drawing attention to the importance of Limburg's farmers and market gardeners. Rompelberg: 'We want all Vastelaovendvierders to consciously stop and think about the fact that without our farmers they could not enjoy themselves during these days. Without them, Vastelaovend would look different for many people.'

Inseparable

In addition to being essential for all the delicacies and refreshments during this festive season, farmers also contribute to Vastelaovend in other ways. Says Rompelberg, "Think, for example, of all the farmers who provide flat cars for various carnival associations. But also all those agricultural entrepreneurs who put down their work for a while and pull the carnival floats in parades with their tractors. And what about the barns and sheds they make available for months to associations to build their floats in. You cannot get around it: farmers and Vastelaovend are inseparable.'
