In a few years, the Greenhouse for the Future will open its doors on the Westland Flora Campus. In this field lab, companies, knowledge institutes and governments will collaborate on innovations for greenhouse horticulture. What these innovations will be is not yet known. To that end, the Greenhouse for the Future is launching an ideas competition: The Competition You Can't Lose.
Everyone with a good idea can participate: from students, researchers and real estate developers to designers, (greenhouse) builders, citizens and companies from inside and outside the sector and from all links in the chain. Deadline Entries: October 7, 2024.
Idea Contest
To realize the Fieldlab, the commitment of many different stakeholders is needed. The initiators are therefore looking for organizations that share their dream and want to contribute - in whatever form - proactively. After all: together you go faster and further. Therefore, this week the Contest You Can't Lose starts. Entries must be received no later than October 7, 2024.
.Collaborating on innovation in greenhouse farming
In 2027, the Greenhouse for the Future will open its doors, on the Westland Flora Campus. In this field lab, companies, knowledge institutes and governments will collaborate on innovations for greenhouse horticulture. Which innovations they will be is not yet known. To that end, the Greenhouse for the Future is launching an ideas competition.
Together you go faster and get further. The Fieldlab will be a catalyst for a stronger international competitiveness of the Dutch horticultural ecosystem. The challenges within the world food issue are so complex that an integral and multidisciplinary approach is needed.
The Fieldlab literally provides the space for this. Not a drawing-board innovation, but a place to invent, make, test and demonstrate concrete, new groundbreaking system solutions. In The Fieldlab, open, precompetitive innovation at the system level takes place.
The Building
The Fieldlab will be a building with work and office spaces on the first floor and a greenhouse-style production/test facility on the upper floor. Unique to the Fieldlab is that it offers a combination of a vibrant state-of-the-art development environment with test spaces directly above it (greenhouses, vertical farms etc).
.A place where the smartest people from our sector and beyond like to be because they can inspire each other and realize their ambitions. A building that with its appearance and activities is an enrichment for the Flora Campus and therefore also reinforces other functions of the campus, such as housing.
