The Fulfilment Center Arcen (FCA) is located on a 10-hectare site and consists of an 18,000-square-meter warehouse, thirty docks, refrigeration facilities and offices. It distributes hedge plants, Mediterranean plants and other greenery to consumers from initially eleven European countries. The ambition of the Limburg-based company is to expand this to 26 countries.
Pallet transport
The plants come directly from collaborations with growers in Europe and from the own nurseries of the initiators of the DC, Roobeek and Dutch Garden Plants. The FCA claims to distinguish itself by offering pallet transport for customers interested in large orders, taking care of the entire logistics process.
In the plant business, more and more orders are made online. Most plants go from the FCA directly to consumers who have ordered them through webshops, says general manager Frank Deriet of the FCA. This shift is unstoppable.
In February, the FCA will hold a three-day 'e-commerce fair' for the first time, where webshops for garden, patio and balcony products can take a look behind the scenes of the distribution center.
