From technical challenges to high upfront costs. Many entrepreneurs want to make their businesses more sustainable, but struggle with regulations, feasibility and financing. Holbox shows that it is possible. A few years ago, the company was still paying 30,000 euros per month for energy, but these costs have now disappeared like snow in the sun.
Change Inc. recently organized a webinar, in collaboration with Vattenfall. The topic: how do I make my company sustainable? What is involved and - just as important - what does it actually deliver for you as a company? Small spoiler alert: more than just a lower energy bill and a step forward on the CO2 performance ladder.
.Martijn Hol is managing director of Holbox, which manufactures in-store displays. The company has been fully committed to more sustainable operations for years. "We now print with water-based inks and use renewable raw materials for our materials. We also moved to new premises with the very best insulation. Solar panels on the roof provide the electricity," Hol said.
Tessa Hermens is from the Dutch Sustainable Energy Association, Frank Meens commercially responsible for Vattenfall's business market. They are both very enthusiastic about Holbox's approach. "Among other things, we helped the company with an energy management system. That ensures a much more efficient use of energy needs. The next step is to invest in battery storage."
Wondering how Holbox got its energy bill to zero? And what you can do to get costs down quickly? Then watch the webinar back.
