After an exciting pitch by the Top 5 of the Limburg Circular Innovation Top 20, Cooloo became the winner of the jury prize. The audience in this live broadcast unanimously chose Looop.
From the many entries, the jury previously compiled a Top 20. The best five presented their innovation on Friday, February 11 via a short pitch from the Limburg Employers Association in Roermond. The public was able to follow the finals via a live stream.
Cooloo develops and produces sustainable furniture techniques and materials based on local waste streams and circular strategies. Director Ricco Fiorito: "with this award we get recognition and feeling for what we have been working for so long. This is a support from the region that we have a good idea." Cooloo won an amount of € 3,000 with this jury prize.
The audience prize of € 1,000 was won by Looop. Looop is engaged in upgrading organic co-products from the food and fermentation industry. Marketing and IT manager Bram Kuunders indicates that this prize will bring the agricultural sector in a positive light.
The public prize of € 1.000,- was won by Looop.
The Limburg Circular Innovation Top 20 has been rolled out within the province of Limburg by the Limburg Employers Association, from a national initiative. Sonja Demandt, expert manager Sustainability and Innovation at the LWV: "The Limburg Circular Innovation Top 20 is organized to put all these innovations on the map, to keep them structurally visible and to inspire each other. Circular entrepreneurship is the future"
The jury has judged the innovations on degree of circularity, degree of cooperation in the chain, scalability and the innovative character. "It is important that we are all aware of the need to reuse as many materials as possible. By paying extra attention to this in the Week of Circular Economy, we hope that more circular initiatives will arise within the province of Limburg."
About the Limburg Circular Innovation Top 20
The Limburg Circular Innovation Top 20 is an initiative of the Limburg Employers Association (LWV), in cooperation with LIOF, Limburg Province and Rabobank. The goal is to show what Region Limburg has to offer in the field of circular innovations and to help these circular innovations a step further.
Jury The jury of the Limburg Circular Innovation Top 20 was led by jury chair Lia Voermans, director of Innovation Strategy Chemelot Campus. At her side were Nancy Bocken, Professor of Sustainable Business at Maastricht University, Hans de Kinderen, Chairman of the Board of Rabobank Weerterland en Cranendonk, Harma Albering, Task Coordinator for Circular Economy of the Province of Limburg (deputizing for Stephan Satijn, member of the Provincial Executive), and Gé Moonen, Chairman of the Sustainability & Innovation Expertise Centre of the LWV.
