Are you an entrepreneur who manufactures, processes or uses plastic? Or are you researching how supply chains can reuse their plastic waste materials? If so, you may be eligible to apply for a grant. Help build an economy in which we treat products and materials fairly and sustainably.

  • Start date: Tuesday 21 April 2026 09:00
  • End date: Tuesday 6 October 2026 17:00

Who is it for?

The grant is intended for parties active in the plastics and recycling sector, such as:

  • companies that manufacture, process or use plastic
  • researchers working on plastic and recycling
  • organisations that collect or recycle plastic

You apply for a grant as part of a partnership. A partnership consists of at least two organisations, at least one of which must be a business.

What can you receive a grant for?

You can apply for a grant for two types of projects:

Research project

With a CPNL research project, you conduct research or develop processes, methodologies or techniques together with partners, for example:

  • improving the design of materials and products to make them more recyclable
  • examining, sorting and washing plastic waste
  • converting plastic waste into new raw materials

The aim is to make recycling more efficient and improve the quality of recycled material.

Showcase project

In a CPNL showcase project, you work with partners to make the supply chain for at least one type of plastic material more sustainable. The results can serve as an example for other companies using the same material.

In your showcase, you demonstrate, for example:

  • how you remove bottlenecks in the value chain of an existing plastic material stream
  • how you close the loop on your plastic material

In a showcase, you conduct research on a pilot scale. Or you demonstrate how a new technique works in practice (demonstration project). Under ‘Topics of the CPNL scheme’ below, you can read about which techniques and waste streams can be used.

How much funding will your project receive?

Research projects:

  • Total grant: €3 million
  • For each research project, you will receive a maximum of €1.5 million

Showcases:

  • Total grant: €37 million
  • For each showcase project (pilot project or demonstration project), you will receive a maximum of €7.5 million

The amount of the grant depends on the activities you carry out and the type of organisation. Please consult the guide to see how much funding your project is eligible for (we will make this guide available shortly).
