Call to partner with Fruit & Vegetable Brigade for well-stocked 'Healthy Bag' Food Banks Venlo region

Everyone's access to healthy food. That's where help is needed. That is why Frank Hessing, CEO of Hessing Supervers and Gert Mulder, chairman of the Fruit & Vegetable Brigade are appealing to colleagues in the Venlo region to join forces.

After Poeldijk and Nagele, there is now also a Vegetable & Fruit Brigade at Fresh Park Venlo with fully owned facilities. This location will be festively opened on June 19 in the presence of, among others, Erwin Boon, Alderman for Economic and Social Affairs in Venlo. With this, the municipality underlines the importance of the Fruit & Vegetable Brigade in its municipality. "Cooperation with the Fruit & Vegetable Brigade gives companies the opportunity to show that they are sustainable businesses and support our ideas," Mulder said. "Companies are completely unburdened. There is sufficient capacity for multiple suppliers of potatoes, vegetables and fruit. Registration & pickup of leftover lots is easily done through one point of contact."

Groente & Fruit Brigade unburdens

"With this partnership, we as a company not only demonstrate our commitment to sustainability, but also our social commitment," says Frank Hessing. "Hessing Supervers has a long history of supplying Food Banks. After our move to Venlo, we were looking for a structural solution that would allow us to continue our contribution in an efficient way. The Fruit & Vegetable Brigade makes this possible: they pick up products, handle the cask administration and monitor food safety after the fresh products have left our premises. Thanks to short lines of communication, products quickly reach the regional food banks. An additional advantage is that we have less waste."

Dive of Five inspiration for Food Bank

Stephan Lesterhuis of Food Bank Venlo looks forward with anticipation to working with the Fruit & Vegetable Brigade and hopes that many parties will sign up. "Our policy is to support our clients with healthy and varied food. We take our inspiration for this from the Nutrition Center's Disk of Five. In this, fruits and vegetables make up the largest part. Weekly supply from the Fruit and Vegetable Brigade is of paramount importance to us."
