Many agricultural entrepreneurs face major challenges in shaping their businesses and making them sustainable in the area where they are located. BoerenPerspectief Limburg, launched this week, is going to help them answer these questions and make the right choices.
BoerenPerspectief Limburg is part of the national BoerenPerspectief program. For the province of Limburg, the Limburg Agricultural and Horticultural Union (LLTB), the Limburg Agricultural Youth Contact (LAJK) and the Coƶperatie Natuurrijk Limburg have joined forces to support agricultural entrepreneurs in the challenges they face, in making choices for the future and in seizing opportunities. With this program we will support future Limburg farmers, horticulturists and farmers-to-be in coloring their future picture full of perspective. Our starting point is the entrepreneurs; their strength and their business are central," said Thijs Rompelberg, chairman of the LLTB.
80 trajectories
BoerenPerspectief is giving 80 agricultural entrepreneurs in Limburg the opportunity to receive free support with their questions and ideas. 'BoerenPerspectief offers entrepreneurs a trajectory to determine their future,' explains LAJK president Frank Eijking. 'This can be a longer or shorter trajectory, but we can also see if we can connect entrepreneurs with similar issues, or who live in one area, for example, to entrepreneurs in a kind of intervision groups. We really offer customization. For us, it's about working together on the future of agricultural entrepreneurs and letting them farm in their province.'
'BoerenPerspectief is for everyone who sees a future in the agricultural sector in Limburg, says Huub Dormans of Coƶperatie Natuurrijk Limburg. 'Of course the farmers and horticulturists, but also think of potential successors, with or without family ties, in a business, a lateral starter, someone with an idea for a piece of farmland, or an entrepreneur who wants to extensify and explore the possibilities of more nature-inclusive farming. Someone working on an innovation for the sector or thinking about a conversion or an additional agricultural branch within the company. It's all possible. BoerenPerspectief has a positive approach and looks at the possibilities and what is possible.'
How does it work?
BoerenPerspectief is a program that runs until October 2026. Entrepreneurs (to be) who apply during this period start with an intake interview to see if there is a "fit. In that interview, we look at what a potential participant wants, explore how she/he envisions the future, and then jointly determine the coaching program. The entrepreneur will be paired with an experienced and independent BAS-registered process supervisor based on his or her specific question or need.
