AirInternet, provider of innovative Internet solutions, announces the opening of its new 5GLab at the Brightlands Smart Services Campus in Heerlen. This lab will serve as a center for research and development of advanced technologies in 5G, 6G and other connectivity innovations.
The 5GLab at AirInternet offers companies, researchers and students from home and abroad a unique platform to test and develop new applications using the unprecedented speed and reliability of 5G networks. The lab will also act as an incubator for startups and entrepreneurs looking to create innovative solutions across a wide range of sectors, from healthcare to smart cities.
The opening of the 5GLab comes at a time when Brightlands Limburg is recognized globally as one of the most innovative regions. The Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) has selected Brightlands Limburg as one of the 21 world - 2025 regions that excel in innovation strength, knowledge development and sustainability. This recognition highlights the strong collaboration between knowledge institutions, education, Brightlands Campuses, business and government in the region.
The opening of our 5GLab marks an important milestone in our mission to push the boundaries of connectivity, said Ralph Rademakers, CSO of AirInternet. The official opening of the 5GLab will take place on June 17, 2025 by Cees Links, co-inventor of WiFi, and will be attended by representatives from government, industry and academia. The event will feature demonstrations of some of the most promising 5G applications currently under development.
