A lot is being asked of farmers and horticulturists. The European Union, the CAP program and the province of Limburg are making 3.7 million euros available to help agricultural entrepreneurs in Limburg meet the cost of productive investments.

Limburg farmers can apply for this from Thursday, February 15, 2024 9:00 am until Thursday, April 25, 2024 5:00 pm. This concerns, for example, the purchase of machines for precision fertilization, installations for renewable energy and heat generation or cooling systems for an optimal barn climate.

A total of 2.2 million euros is being made available from the European Union and the CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) program. The province of Limburg is making an additional investment of approximately 1.5 million euros on top of this. With these amounts the authorities want to support farmers as well as ensure that investments contribute positively to air and water quality, soil conditions and animal welfare.

Agricultural deputy Jasper Kuntzelaers is pleased that the implementation of the CAP program is about to start: 'The liveability of the countryside and nature is under pressure. We are pleased with the financial stimulus from Europe, among others, for agriculture in Limburg. It is important that farmers are stimulated to invest in their businesses. In this way they can better respond to the changes that are required of them and make their business more future-proof.'
