Webinar: Towards circularity with the digital product passport

Item date:

16 January

Event location: Online

16:00 - 17:00

In the coming years, the Digital Product Passport (DPP) will become a requirement for more and more products in the EU with the aim of promoting reuse and sustainability. The DPP contains essential information, such as the origin of raw materials and the degree of circularity of the materials.

What data should you, as a Dutch manufacturing company, make legally available for the DPP? Which parties in the supply chain can provide this data? In which digital environment do you collect all the data and how do you present it? Discover the answers to these and other questions during the live webinar on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, organized by TNO in cooperation with Koninklijke Metaalunie(opens in new window) (refers to another website), Stichting SCSN(opens in new window) (refers to another website) and Klikopmorgen.nl EDIH Zuid-Nederland(opens in new window) (refers to another website).

Digital components for control, monitoring and communication are becoming increasingly important in modern products. The digital product passport provides comprehensive information about a product throughout its life cycle and plays a crucial role in transparency, sustainability, the circular economy and European regulations.

The DPP contains data such as production processes, origin, life cycle, CO2 emissions, carbon footprint, materials, chemicals and components. It also provides insight into the environmental and safety standards the product meets and the recycling options at the end of its life.

Standards are essential for the implementation of the digital product passport. They ensure uniform information across Europe, which benefits not only producers, but also supply chain partners and consumers. Thanks to these standards, products and locations can be correctly identified and information can be automatically stored and shared.

This is crucial to link the DPP to physical products and remove barriers between producers and supply chain partners. The controlled and confidential sharing of product and manufacturing data is a prerequisite for this. Data standards such as the Smart Connected Supplier Network (SCSN) help manufacturing companies efficiently exchange information in the supply chain.
